Are longboard sliding gloves necessary?

Longboarders use specialized gloves that enhance their sliding experience. Known as longboard sliding gloves, they are used to maintain balance while sliding "hands down" in turns. These gloves are recognizable by their sliding pucks - the round disks found on most longboard gloves. It is on this puck that you place the majority of your weight when you ride.

Longboard gloves are specifically designed to be lightweight, flexible and provide a snug fit. Longboard gloves are traditionally made of leather. Leather gloves are known for their durability and resistance to abrasion. Other materials are commonly used in the making of gloves, including a combination of materials such as nylon, suede and Kevlar fingertips.

Longboard sliding pucks help you maintain control In addition to providing extra protection, the sliding pucks allow you to better control your board, making them particularly useful for freeriding and downhill longboarding. It is more common to have a puck for the palm, but you can also get individual pucks for each finger. For better performance, palm pucks should be placed towards the palm of your hand.

Although most pucks are made of polyurethane, they wear out quickly and need to be replaced regularly.
