MIPS, is a helmet-integrated brain protection system designed to provide additional brain protection in the event of angled or rotational impacts. All MIPS certified helmets are tested to withstand an impact speed of up to 6.2 meters per second.

The Lumos helmet is available in one size and fits a head circumference of 56 - 61cm.

MIPS stands for “Multi-directional Impact Protection System”. The result of years of research, the combination of natural brain protection with MIPS provides better protection against oblique impacts.

Imitation of the brain

MIPS mimics the way the brain protects itself by giving the helmet its own layer of low friction between the outer shell and the liner.

Low friction layer

In a MIPS helmet, the shell and liner are separated by a low-friction layer, allowing the helmet to slide off the head during an oblique impact.

Oblique impact

Conventional helmets are tested by dropping the helmet vertically on a flat surface. MIPS helmets are designed to cope with the real conditions of an accident, with oblique impacts to the head.
